Lahore Qalandars will be led by Shaheen Afridi.

LAHORE: Lahore Qalandars says it intends to defend its championship in the eighth season of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), which will start on February 13, 2023, under the direction of pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi.

Chief Operating Officer (COO) Sameen Rana of Lahore Qalandars stated that their skipper was fully well and ready to compete in PSL 8. "Shaheen is in rhythm and currently bowling for the national team." Over the course of the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka, the pacer sustained a knee injury. He returned to the field for the T20 World Cup but suffered another injury during the Melbourne Cricket Ground's championship game (MCG). Since then, the pacer has not played.

According to the COO, Lahore Qalandars are not under pressure because they are a champion and have endured difficult times in the past. "We will attempt to defend our title since we are the champs. He continued, we aim to be the first PSL champions to successfully defend our crown. Rana expressed satisfaction with the team's composition when speaking about the group. By maintaining balance, he claimed to have made the best team possible. "Our strength is bowling, and our batters are top-notch. He stated that Mohammad Hafeez and Sikandar Raza had taken the place of Mohammad Hafeez and right-handed English batsman Samit Patel, respectively. Rana asserted that Najam Sethi, the recently appointed chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), will lead the PSL to greater success. He continued, "Najam Sethi started the PSL in trying times, and the PSL needs an administrator like him.

Shaheen stated last week that he is planning to make a comeback in the PSL the following month because his recovery is almost complete and he will be able to play again in its entirety. "Compared to how I felt at the World Cup, I feel lot stronger. I'm bowling in perfect rhythm and am ready to return quickly, Shaheen told Geo News. The aspiring fast bowlerhas set his eyes on the PSL’s eighth season, as he will be leading Lahore Qalandars and aiming to defend the title.
