Pakistan's bowlers are put to the test by New Zealand's starters



 On the second day of the first Test match at the National Bank Cricket Arena, Pakistan's bowlers have been unable to dismiss New Zealand's openers, Tom Latham and Devon Conway.


Babar Azam utilised five bowlers in an effort to make a breakthrough, but none of the bowlers were able to secure a single wicket, allowing New Zealand to end the day on a high note as they scored 165 runs in just 47 overs without losing a wicket.

By scoring 78 (126) and 82, Tom Latham and Devon Conway continued their unbeaten streak (156). Pakistan had reached 317 for 5 at the outset of the second day of the first Test of the two-match series against New Zealand in Karachi, but captain Babar Azam was out after Agha Salman took a single to give the skipper the strike.


Azam, who had reached 161, was dismissed by Tim Southee's delivery while still having an overnight score of 161. With 86 runs earlier on the opening day, Sarfaraz Ahmed—who was taking part in his 50th Test—continued to contribute significantly to the scoreboard. He was also for the first time suppressing Pakistan at home.

For the visiting team on the first day, New Zealanders Michael Bracewell and Ajaz Patel both took two wickets, while Tim Southee took one. Pakistan reached 438 thanks in large part to the efforts of captain Babar Azam and wicketkeeper Sarfaraz Ahmed and all-rounder Agha Salman, who scored his first Test century.


It was Salman's (his first tonne) century, while Babar and Salman both produced prolific Test centuries. On the second day of the first Test against New Zealand, Pakistan lost four wickets. Babar, Pakistan's captain, was dismissed for 161 in the opening over of the second day. Nauman Ali scored 7, whereas Mohammed Wasim scored 2, and Mir Hamza only scored one.

Pakistan chose to bat first on the first day of the Test match and began the second day with 317 for 5. With 86 runs earlier on the opening day, Sarfaraz Ahmed—who was taking part in his 50th Test—continued to contribute significantly to the scoreboard. Additionally, he was playing on Pakistani soil for the first time.
